📍 Location

Ficus Microcarpa Green Island is a versatile bonsai that thrives both indoors and outdoors. It prefers warm, humid conditions and plenty of natural light.

• Indoors: Place the bonsai near a bright window where it receives 3–4 hours of direct or filtered sunlight each day.
• Outdoors: Morning sunlight is ideal for healthy growth. However, protect the tree from harsh afternoon sun, especially during peak summer, as it can scorch the leaves and dry young aerial roots.
• Humidity: This bonsai naturally develops beautiful aerial roots in humid conditions. Therefore, placing a shallow tray filled with water and pebbles nearby during summer helps increase humidity and encourages healthy root growth.

💧 Watering

Ficus enjoys slightly moist, well-draining soil.

• Water the bonsai when the top layer of soil feels dry.
• During summer, watering is usually required once a day. In cooler months, reduce the frequency based on weather and soil moisture.
• Always water thoroughly until excess water drains from the drainage holes.
• Avoid overwatering, as constantly wet soil may cause root rot and fungal problems.

Tip: Watering frequency depends on your climate, pot size, and the location where the bonsai is kept.

🌿 Fertilizing

Regular feeding keeps your bonsai healthy, lush, and full of energy.

• Apply a balanced NPK 20:20:20 water-soluble fertilizer every 15 days during the growing season.

✂️ Pruning & Maintenance

Ficus Microcarpa is a vigorous grower and responds very well to regular pruning.

• Trim new shoots regularly to maintain the desired shape and encourage finer branching.
• Remove oversized leaves, crossing branches, and unwanted growth to improve airflow and maintain a balanced canopy.
• Frequent pruning produces denser foliage and enhances the mature appearance of the bonsai.
• Clean the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to remove dust and keep them glossy.

🪴 Repotting

Repot your bonsai every 1–2 years, or when the roots completely fill the pot.

Use a well-draining bonsai soil mix consisting of:

• Sand
• Garden Soil
• Lava Granules
• Coco Husk
• Bio Compost
• Vermi Compost
